Oh, this dress.

The laid-back, muse-like top mixed with the structured skirt. It’s SO lovely. I could see this as a reception dress at a wedding with live music in a restaurant or warehouse space. It’d look so fabulous with some chunky black jewelry and up-to-here heels to compliment the dress’s cool factor.

Since the designer also creates it in pretty much any color, it’d also serve as an absolutely stunning bridesmaid dress.

Have you fallen in love with Nonpareil, yet?

Between the inspiration, the tutorials and the printables, I’m not sure I could even name what I love most.

Oh, so sweet.

Just look at this lovely inspiration:

Nothing says casual yet classy like Lilly Pulitzer.

If I could do it all over again, I’d host a soiree on the beach in this dress – with my maids all in navy. I can almost hear the waves crashing, and see the seersucker suits, grosgrain ribbon bows tied around favor boxes and clean, tight floral centerpieces.

We meet up with our wonderful and fun photographer, Leah,Β on Friday night for our engagement photo shoot.Β Β  Here is a sneak peek into our night.Β  I am just dying to see the rest…

Here are a few engagement photo tips that I learned…

Tips from the Photographer

  1. Β Β  The best outfits are those that coordinate but are not matchy-matchy.
  2. Try to stay away from black and white.Β  The camera tends to absorb the light with these colors and your pictures will lack some of the dimensions that you will get with color.

Tips from the Stylist

  1. Go bolder with your make-up that you normally would.Β  This mean more blush and fake eyelashes.Β
  2. Don’t forget to bring your tube of lip stick with you.Β  You will be kissing a lot in the photos and will need to reapply.
  3. One word: Hairspray.Β  Get the really good stuff.

Tips from the Bride

  1. Pick a great location that matches your personality.Β  FH and I love ice cream so we did some of our pictures in an old fashioned ice cream parlor.
  2. Try to relax and have fun with.Β  It is definitely awkward at first but once we started to relax we had a lot of fun.
  3. Do your research first.Β  Let your photographer know if there are any specific shots that want to make sure they get.
  4. That being said, let the photographer manage the creative process.Β  This is their job and they will make sure you look great.

Β A special thank you to Sara Swanson at Northern Style for doing my hair and makeup.Β

One of my favorite parts of wedding is the wedding cake.Β  Honestly, I could care less what it looks like as long as it tastes great.Β Β  You know, real butter cream frosting with some sort of filling in the middle.Β  My inspiration cake is very simple so why is it that descent cake cost more than $3.00 a slice? Remember, I am working on a tight budget here.Β  So ladies, are there any great cake places in Mpls that would fit my cake bill?
